SMLE Registration in Order: DataFlow Verification, SCFHS Eligibility and Prometric Booking

Candidates often prepare for the Saudi Medical Licensing Examination for months and then discover that the administrative process takes almost as long. The sequence is fixed by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS): verify your credentials, obtain eligibility, book with Prometric. Each stage has its own documents and waiting time. This guide puts them in order with the points where Pakistani applicants most often lose weeks.
Stage 1: primary-source verification
Gulf regulators require independent verification of qualifications and experience, and SCFHS uses the DataFlow Group's primary-source verification service. In practice you submit your MBBS degree, PM&DC registration, house-job and experience certificates and identity documents; DataFlow contacts the issuing bodies directly. Verification can take several weeks and is delayed by any mismatch between documents, such as a name spelt differently on a degree and a passport, or a certificate the issuing institution is slow to confirm.
Stage 2: SCFHS account and eligibility
With verification in hand, the application proceeds on the SCFHS portal (Mumaris Plus), where your profession and category are classified and exam eligibility is issued. The eligibility number is what Prometric needs to let you book. SCFHS's rules on how far in advance an exam may be booked, how many attempts are allowed and how long an eligibility remains valid are published on the portal and change from time to time; read the current version rather than relying on a forum post.
Stage 3: Prometric booking
- Book on Prometric's SCFHS page using the eligibility number, choosing a centre (Pakistan's major cities have Prometric centres) and a date.
- The exam runs 4 hours 30 minutes since March 2023, so choose a morning slot if stamina is a concern.
- Prometric's rescheduling and cancellation rules apply, with fees that depend on notice. Book a date you intend to keep.
Mistakes that cost months
- Starting verification late. Begin DataFlow as soon as you decide on Saudi Arabia, before you have finished studying.
- Inconsistent names and dates. Check every document against your passport before upload. Correcting a certificate in Pakistan after DataFlow has queried it can take weeks.
- Experience letters without the required detail. Letters should state the post, the dates and the institution on letterhead, with a verifiable contact.
- Assuming the exam is the licence. Passing the SMLE leads to classification and registration; an employer's offer, a visa and a licence to practise are separate steps with their own requirements.
- Trusting unofficial figures. Pass marks, question counts and fees on third-party sites conflict with each other. SCFHS and Prometric are the only sources that count.
A realistic timeline
- Weeks 1–6: DataFlow verification (while studying).
- Weeks 6–8: SCFHS application and eligibility.
- Week 8 onward: Prometric booking for a date that leaves the final month for full-length timed practice.
What this means for you
Run the paperwork and the preparation as two parallel tracks from day one. FAME's SMLE package covers the examination track; this checklist covers the other.
Before you upload anything: a document checklist
- Passport valid for the whole process, with the name spelt exactly as on every certificate.
- MBBS degree and transcripts from the university, not the college, where the two differ.
- PM&DC registration certificate and a recent good-standing certificate.
- House-job completion certificate and experience letters on letterhead, stating post, dates and institution, with a verifiable contact.
- Any postgraduate qualification you intend to be classified on, with its registration.
- Scanned copies in the format and size the portals accept, named clearly, and a spreadsheet of what was uploaded where and when.
Verification queries almost always trace back to one of these items being inconsistent; an hour spent checking them saves weeks.
